Irish Heart Foundation ‘Hands for Life’

The Irish Heart Foundation is sponsoring a FREE ‘Hands for Life’ CPR Programme which will be delivered here in the Chamber Office on March 4th.

The course concentrates on recognising cardiac arrest, making the emergency call, listening to the call taker and knowing your Eircode. Participants get to practice compression-only CPR on a manikin. Awareness of how to use an AED, how to help someone who is choking, how to perform CPR on a child, recognising stroke and the difference between a cardiac arrest and a heart attack are also covered – all in a one hour session.

The course will be delivered by one of the Irish Heart Foundation’s highly qualified facilitators and is being made available in the hope it may save a life in an emergency situation.

A total of 90 people are required in order to make this a feasible exercise and the aim of the Irish Heart Foundation is to conduct 3 one hour training sessions with 30 attendees in each. The times allocated are 10 a.m., 11.30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the appointed date of which I will confirm for you as soon as it comes to hand.

There is no restriction on the number of individuals from any one place of employment who can attend this important training exercise but I advise early booking as demand is highly likely to exceed availability of places.

This is a once-off opportunity to learn the basics of life saving in an emergency situation and Enniscorthy and District Chamber is delighted to have been invited to participate in its delivery.

Please advise me at your earliest convenience of your interest in this exercise and of how many of your employees who might wish to attend.  I will then proceed to make the necessary arrangements and revert back to you in due course.
